FoMRHI was founded in 1975 as an organisation of people concerned with historical musical instruments. Its aim is to promote authenticity in the preservation of original instruments, in making reproductions of such instruments, and in their use. Membership is open to anyone interested in any of these aims. All members receive FoMRHI Quarterly, which includes a bulletin of notes and news, requests for and offers of information, replies and questions, and a number of Communications. These are of varying length and range from the speculative to the thoroughly researched, and from the practical to the theoretical and the philosophical. They include book and other reviews, detailed information on how to make useful gadgets, instrument design information, and debates on previous Communications. A list of members' addresses and interests appears regularly, usually in April, and a supplement is included in each Quarterly. Other FoMRHI activities include occasional FoMRHI seminars on any relevant topics in any places where there are members enthusiastic enough to organize them and numerous enough to attend them.
The subscription is for the calendar year and the rates for the current year are: UK and by surface mail worldwide: 10.50 pounds sterling; Supplement for air to Europe 1.50 pounds, totalling 12.00; Supplement for air overseas 3.00 pounds, totalling 13.50. Payment by cheque, eurocheque, bank draft in sterling to FoMRHI, _or_ foreign currency cheque, in which case you *must* add the equivalent of at least 5 pounds to cover bank conversion charges.
All subscriptions, with the form below, and orders for back numbers should go to the Honorary Treasurer, FoMRHI, London Metropolitan University, 41-71 Commercial Road, London E1 1LA, U.K.
